The name of your domains can impact you website position on the search engines, even if some disagree with it reality show something different. By example if you google for the words “seo news” you might find the website seonewsblog.com in first or second page result, this site ranks high in the serp even if not updated in ages and even if with low content, all due possibly just to the name of the domain and maybe the domain age.
You should retain that the name of your domains is important, it surely won’t make you a top player but it will help you rank higher with less difficulty , so if you want to create a new website try always using the keywords you would like to rank for, but avoid creating domains with huge lengths as users will remember more short names than a long list of keywords.

So, you decide to build a site?. The first things you should consider are the keywords you will use for it. why keywords are so important?, if you are creating a new website you should try to employ keywords that are less competitive, by doing so you might has better odds of ranking higher for those words. Choose not only one keyword but a set of keywords that you will use over your pages in titles and context.
How to determine which keywords to use?. Once you choose some keywords you have to determine the demand for those keywords on the web, you could easily find it by using keyword Discovery or Google Adwords keyword tool.
Knowing the demand you need now to find the competition numbers, you could obtain easily a set of three competition numbers for each keyword by using Google search, the competition numbers are actually the number of result pages obtained by doing allintitle:keyword, allinanchor:keyword and searching for the keyword itself.
Now we have the demand and three different competition numbers, the next step is to find the Keyword power or also called the Niche power, take the demand number and divide it by each competition number, we should have now three different niche power results then take an average of those three results and you should obtain the total niche power for the keyword. The higher niche power for a keyword the better.
Remember, the niche power is just a ratio that give you an idea of how easily you can rank for keywords, the higher the niche power of a keyword compare to other keywords niche power only means that you will have less trouble ranking higher for that keyword than the keywords with lesser niche power.
